  • Boston Sash and Millwork

Boston Sash and Millwork, Inc. was established in the early 1990’s and incorporated in 1994.  The company’s mission was to facilitate the replacement of “turn of the century” window sash for New England style residential homes.  The very name of the company is derived from the style of window whose sizes were determined by the size of glass that was available to the artisans of that time.    Only after the turn of the century did glass manufacturers begin to affordably produce the larger, thicker, smoother glass that we see today.  As a result, Boston Sash has been trusted and relied upon to build the traditional style windows that we see in old and new homes today.

The original window produced by Boston Sash was the true divided light double hung with putty glazing.  This is still one of the most popular styles of windows Boston Sash produces today.  Single strength glass is skillfully putty glazed into historically accurate northeastern white pine sash.  We have also developed a custom division to address the unique or “special” millwork situations.  The use of mahogany and other wood species are used to increase the longevity of the windows and doors we produce today.  Unique shapes and sizes are efficiently produced and/or reproduced.  The original weight and pulley system, common throughout the historic districts of the northeast, are reproduced as well.  Our goal since the beginning has been to produce historically accurate products using the highest quality material and workmanship.

We realize that meeting today’s energy and Design Pressure criteria is very important and challenging, while maintaining historic requirements. Therefore, we have tested numerous designs and made adjustments accordingly, in order to meet the energy criteria.  One of our most valued features of our windows and doors is our primer and finish.  Using Fine Paints of Europe, oil base primers, is a huge selling point that our customers love.  We all know that this product is top quality and will protect our products the longest.  We proudly stand behind the quality of our primer and paint provided to us by Fine Paints of Europe.  Combining fine wood species and Fine Paints of Europe together, create a product second to none when considering maintenance, longevity and beauty.
